What is Soul Rock?
It's more a "style" than a genre. Nora's brand is energetic, emotionally expressive, and very percussive. Soul Rock is primarily rock/pop performed on guitar, with the vocalizations associated with soul singers.
Who is Nora Ricci?
Nora's been musically inclined since she was in diapers. It only took a little Jerry Lee Lewis to get her banging on the piano and jumping around. As her passion evolved, Nora focused heavily on the keyboard and percussion and studied instrumental music and composition at several great institutions: Salem College, Wake Forest University, North Carolina School of the Arts, and The University of Siena, Italy. She even had the honor of studying percussion with Master Artist Evelyn Glennie and The National Symphony Orchestra under Rostropovich's direction. Later in life Nora taught herself how to play the guitar, because, why not? It's a lot easier to carry around than a piano or a drum set! The influence and history of Nora's percussion studies gifted her with a distinctive style you don't hear from most guitarists. Basically, the instrument is half guitar...and half drum! And while Nora does cover many music legends, you'll find that she has a unique way of reimagining each song with her own interpretation.
